During its July 6 meeting, Tomball City Council approved a 2.23-acre tract for the site of a new fire station on Stanolind Road north of Hufsmith Road. Tomball Fire Chief Randy Parr said Tomball Fire Station No. 3 will be located just outside city limits but within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The city of Tomball will be able to annex the land where the station will stand once utilities have been extended to the area. “We have a growing need up there and as the area continues to develop, we’ll need to put a station up there to keep our response times in line with our goals,” Parr said. A timeline has not been established for when construction will begin on the building, Parr said. “[Construction will not begin] for a significant portion of time,” Parr said. “We have to wait for the utility systems to catch up to us.” The city of Tomball operates two existing fire stations within city limits. In addition, Tomball Fire Station No. 5 is currently under construction on Telge Road near FM 2920, and the city is looking for another location to build Tomball Fire Station No. 4 near the intersection of FM 2920 and Mahaffey Road.
