1. Virginia and Louisiana streets, US 75 underpass construction
This Texas Department of Transportation project will rework the intersection located underneath US 75. TxDOT began construction at the new Virginia Parkway and US 75 intersection June 15. Eastbound and westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Virginia directly underneath US 75. Significant delays are expected. The last remaining pre-existing bridge on US 75 at Virginia was removed in June. The roads underneath US 75 were re-striped to one lane in each direction to allow for the reconstruction at the intersection and the construction of the southbound main lane bridge. This work will continue in different phases throughout the summer. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Alternate routes suggested by the city of McKinney to cross US 75 include US 380, White Avenue, Park View Avenue and Eldorado Parkway. Alternate routes to travel north or south around the construction include Hardin Boulevard and SH 5. The new intersection is expected to be complete by Sept. 30
