Beginning July 1 students within Leander ISD may access applications for free and reduced-price meals on the
district’s website.
Applications can be submitted any time during the school year and requires parents to submit information including names of all household members, income for each household member, and the last four digits of the applicant’s Social Security number. The district is working with local agencies to help identify children who may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals, according to LISD.
The district’s policy for children who qualify for free and reduced-price meals takes several factors into consideration, including household income; families enrolled in the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP; a child’s status, such as foster system, homeless, migrant or displaced by a declared disaster; and children enrolled in
Head Start or
Even Start.
