Construction began June 15 on Lakeland Village Center, the first commercial development in the master-planned community of Bridgeland in Cypress.

Situated on 20 acres off Fry Road, the development will feature 84,000 square feet of mixed-use retail, restaurant and professional and medical office space. CVS Pharmacy will serve as the anchor retail tenant for Phase 1, which is expected to be complete by spring 2016.

“The debut of Lakeland Village Center and CVS Pharmacy really solidifies the Main Street concept we envisioned for the first commercial site in Bridgeland,” said Peter Houghton, vice president of master-planned communities for Bridgeland. “Bridgeland’s walkability and easily accessible amenities are distinguishing features of the community, and we’re excited to see Lakeland Village Center further that precedent.”

The 15,300-square-foot CVS will feature a drive-through pharmacy and a variety of health, beauty and personal care products. Construction on the store is expected to begin in mid-July and set to open in early 2016.

Lakeland Village Center—which is within walking distance for residents of Bridgeland’s Lakeland Heights neighborhood—will also feature views of two neighboring lakes, expansive sidewalks and abundant landscaping.

When built out, Bridgeland will contain 20,000 homes and additional mixed-use and commercial developments, including a larger town center that will bisect the Grand Parkway.
