Austin City Council considered an agenda with 64 items during its June 4, 2015 meeting.

Approved items



  • Initiate the buyout of 63 homes in Williamson Creek's 25-year floodplain costing no more than $17,986,000. Only the homes which experienced flooding in the October 2013 storm and are currently owned or occupied by the same people since that time period would be eligible for the buyout.

  • Passing a stopped school bus will now be a civil offense punishable with a $300 fine.

  • Initiated creation of a Flood Mitigation Task Force to create recommendations for flood mitigation methods and how the city of Austin should respond to floods.

  • Various changes to taxi cab franchise agreements and regulations were made in effort to level the playing field between taxis and companies such as Uber and Lyft as well as to protect the interest of drivers.

  • A six percent homestead exemption was approved with the intent to raise the exemption to 20 percent.
