The Historic Pecan Grove Cemetery, 1701 S. McDonald, will host its 31st annual Memorial Day event from 10-11:300 a.m., Monday, May 25. This year, volunteers will pay tribute not only to the military and first responder personnel interred at Pecan Grove but will also honor the Cemetery's late president  and founder of the Memorial Day event, Harry McKillop.

Members of the community as well as local, county and state elected officials are slated to be in attendance as volunteers honor the fallen in their final resting place, which includes soldiers and heroes of wars dating back to the Texas Revolution, Mexican War and Civil War and include every war and conflict since.

Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms. Pre-ceremony music begins at 9:30 a.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. The ceremony will take place near Founders Hall, the chapel positioned at the northeast corner of the property. Parking is allowed within the cemetery grounds with entrance off Industrial Blvd. Parking is also allowed in neighboring shopping and office building parking lots.
