Members of the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods plan to discuss local church LifeAustin's controversial outdoor amphitheater during the association's May 13 meeting, OHAN President Darryl Pruett said.
Meeting attendees will consider a draft resolution in support of the Hill Country Estates Homeowners Association urging the city of Austin to revoke the administratively approved site development permit for the amphitheater. The resolution also opposes an outdoor music venue sound permit LifeAustin is seeking. In 2011, the Hill Country Estates HOA filed an appeal to the Board of Adjustment about the administrative approval of a site development permit for the construction of an outdoor amphitheater on land that was zoned for rural residential use. Hill Country Estates and the Covered Bridge neighborhood are located near the development on W. Hwy. 71, Pruett said. "Since we’ve already had a few resolutions [similar to this in the past], I don’t foresee any issues with the membership adopting this resolution,” Pruett said. Pruett, who lives in the Legend Oaks II neighborhood, said residents will consider the resolution and either vote May 13 or at next month’s membership meeting. The meeting will take place at the Austin Community College Pinnacle campus at 7 p.m. Information about OHAN is available at www.ohan.org
