The city of Leander is hosting a public open house from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 7 to solicit the community's input about the Comprehensive Plan.
The plan includes the overall vision for Leander's future and city officials are asking residents to participate in the discussion, said Tom Yantis, assistant city manager. At the meeting, attendees may participate in a survey, which will show real-time results on a projector screen. Attendees may also speak to city staffers from departments including safety, parks, economic development, transportation, utility and land use, to receive information and provide feedback, Yantis said.
To help gauge how residents feel about land use, residents, may also participate in an exercise in which attendees look at photographs of nationwide development patterns and select which ones they like, Yantis said, and a similar exercise will also be available for children.
The meeting will be held at Pat Bryson Municipal Hall, 201 N. Brushy Street, Leander.
This is the first of three public meetings to be hosted, Yantis said. The next meeting is hosted in June, followed by a final meeting in August. City Council is expected to approve the plan in August.
