A slate of additional road closures are scheduled in April as Union Pacific Corp. continues the expansion of its Glidden Subdivision line between Houston and San Antonio.
As a part of the second phase of construction, crossings at Ulrich, Brooks, Main and Wood streets are scheduled for temporary three-day closures in April as Union Pacific continues its expansion along Hwy. 90.
Union Pacific officials said the temporary closures are a result of the installation of six miles of new track between Ulrich Street and Gessner Road in Missouri City. The new track is projected to reduce waiting times for motorists once complete, officials said.
"We are appreciative of the patience of the Sugar Land community during our work and the temporary closures," said Brenda Mainwaring, southern region vice president of public affairs for Union Pacific. "We will continue to communicate our project's progress and look to minimize the impact on the drivers in the area."
Union Pacific officials said initial construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Drivers are encouraged to plan new routes during construction.
Installation of the new track will result in temporary closures at:
Ulrich Street, Apr. 6-8
Brooks Street, Apr. 9-11
Main Street, Apr. 13-15
Wood Street, Apr. 16-18
