UPDATE: Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar met its goal.
According to Alicia Oglerman, a public relations representative for Boston's, the restaurant raised $20,000 system-wide which will be able to provide 200,000 meals to children in need.
ORIGINAL STORY: In an effort to fight childhood hunger across the nation, Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar collected proceeds from its pizza sales, in addition to donations, which will be given to Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign.
The fundraiser hopes to raise enough money to provide 200,000 meals for children in need.
The Grapevine restaurant, located at 1713 Cross Roads Dr, donated $1 from the sale of every pizza and also any donation from restaurant and wrote the amount and the name of the person that donated on a purple heart to display at the restaurant.
"We are truly grateful for our partnership with the Boston's Pizza Foundation," said Debbie Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength. "More than 16 million kids in America live in households that struggle to put food on the table, but through programs like Boston's Cares, we are able to provide the much needed support these children so desperately need."
Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar is headquartered in Dallas. It boasts annual sales of around $1 billion and operates 390 outlets across North America.
