Boutique makes mobile housecalls
Not every business needs a storefront to be successful. For one business, all that is needed is a recreational vehicle, pink carpet and a stellar idea. Owners Rosie Van-Dalton and Susie Brandt have been rolling up to homes in their customized Airstream RV for two years now to sell premium denim and retro dresses directly to their customers.
The idea for the Couture in a Can mobile boutique first started as an offhand comment from Brandt who wished for her own boutique. That idea evolved into gutting a 850-square-foot recreational vehicle so it could be used as a mobile retail boutique vehicle.
After several successful years, Brandt said that the duo is preparing to launch a second trailer.
"We're getting ready to debut our second trailer," Brandt said. "We are probably going to launch it outside [the Dallas-Fort Worth] area."
Couture in a Can is also in talks with a manufacturer to launch its own exclusive clothing label.
"If the manufacturer fits, it will launch in 2015," Brandt said.
Couture in a Can does not have a physical storefront.
