River Place residents presented a petition with about 360 signatures to the Public Utility Commission of Texas on Dec. 3 opposing the city of Austin's water rates, claiming the rates are too high.
The development's water and wastewater services were annexed by the city of Austin on Oct. 1 from the River Place Municipal Utility District. The neighborhood will be fully annexed Dec. 31, 2017.
Wick Tobias, vice president of the River Place Homeowners Association, said residents' bills are "all over the place."
Residents are seeking an appeal of the water rates that would result in a fee adjustment from Oct. 1 to the present, he said.
