The Collin County Commissioners Court approved funding for various city road projects using the 2007 Discretionary Bond funds during its Oct. 20 meeting.

The city of Frisco submitted a funding request for road improvements to Gaylord and John Hickman parkways.

Frisco Mayor Maher Maso, who spoke to the court during the meeting, said these road improvements would help support the major mixed-use development currently under construction at Warren and Dallas parkways that will include a multiuse events center and the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters.

"The projects listed for Frisco are significant [because of] the multiuse facility being built, which will bring a lot of economic development to all of us,"

he said.

Another Frisco project the court approved is for intersection improvements at Lebanon Road and Dallas Parkway.

The two Frisco road projects combined total $3.15 million.

In total commissioners approved funding of more than $18 million for 12 different road projects in the Collin County area.
