Triple Crown will not have to pull the plug on its current location after all.
The live music venue at 206 N. Edward Gary St., San Marcos, was expected to close its doors and relocate after plans were announced earlier this year for a nine-story mixed-use development to be built on the 200 block of North Edward Gary, but that deal failed to close as expected, so Triple Crown will remain in its current location.
Owner Eric Shaw said the venue is planning a celebration of its streak of 6,473 consecutive days of live music by hosting a full day of live music, free food and T-shirt giveaways Nov. 29.
"We were planning on doing a big remodel before [the nine-story development] came about, and that put it on hold, but now that we have some clarity, we have a big remodel planned for the inside and a few more things outside—some work on the stage, more sound gear," Shaw said.
Shaw said he was pleased the venue would be able to remain at 206 N. Edward Gary St., and he looked forward to the remodel.
"That's the plan—to get back to work," he said.
In an emailed response, John David Carson of Carson Properties, the firm handling the nine-story development, said his company was still working on the project but declined to comment further.
Triple Crown's Nov. 29 celebration begins at 2 p.m., and the last band will take the stage at midnight. The event will be free.
