New space and updated sporting facilities are some of the bond projects Pflugerville ISD finished before school started in August.

School officials renovated 14 of 15 gym floors slated for improvements this year, said Bill Clayton, executive director of Facilities and Support Services. The last one will be completed next summer when school is not in session.

One of the biggest additions was a portable added to Pflugerville High School for the JROTC program. The portable added 8,064 square feet of space for the program and included a marching room and dedicated shooting range.

"We have a great ROTC program and one of the largest in the nation," PISD Superintendent Alex Torrez said. "Kids are gravitating toward it."
