Each month, we compile a list of recently completed, current and future road projects around Sugar Land and Missouri City.

Fort Bend Parkway extension

The Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority selected Parsons-Brinckerhoff to design the Fort Bend Parkway overpass at Hwy. 6. Design work is slated to wrap up this fall, and construction will begin in late 2014 or early 2015, FBCTRA officials said. In addition to the overpass, the FBCTRA is looking at preliminary designs for Extension B-2, which will build on Extension B-1 from Hwy. 6 to Sienna Parkway. The new extension will connect Sienna Parkway to Sienna Springs in Missouri City.

The FBCTRA is moving away from a tolled ramp configuration to main lane tolls. The configuration will remove all of the ramps at McHard Road and construct a main lane toll plaza south of McHard Road. The Lake Olympia ramp plaza has been removed and will be moved south in anticipation of Missouri City's plans to extend Lake Olympia Boulevard to connect with the Hurricane Lane extension.

The new configuration will not change the overall toll cost for motorists, officials said.
