The first of two intersection projects to address congestion, improve mobility and enhance safety at intersections on Hwy. 290 West is wrapping up Sept. 18, Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelli Reyna said.
If weather permits, TxDOT plans to open new turn lanes on Hwy. 290 between Convict Hill Road and FM 1826 in Travis County, Reyna said.
The transportation authority added dual left-turn lanes at Hwy. 290's intersections with Convict Hill Road, FM 1826 and at the Austin Community College Pinnacle campus. TxDOT also built a center-turn lane on Hwy. 290 between FM 1826 and Convict Hill Road.
The second project, which includes adding continuous-flow intersections between Hwy. 71 and Joe Tanner Lane, is expected to be complete in summer 2015, according to TxDOT.
