Athletic logo shows more emphasis on university's Tornado

The Concordia University Texas Department of Athletics unveiled new athletics logos Aug. 26 at the school's annual welcome party for students.

The updated logos reflect the evolution of Concordia's athletics with a stronger visual representation of the school's Tornado mascot, according to a news release.

"Athletics is very excited about the new marks," said Stan Bonewitz, director of athletics and head men's basketball coach. "Our coaches love the evolution, and I believe faculty, staff, students and especially our athletes will love the new look and bold statement made by the new marks. This is perfect timing as we prepare to break ground on a new softball field where we can incorporate the new look into our uniforms and facilities."

The new look began development in summer 2013 with input from a university-wide focus group of coaches and members of the university's communication and facilities teams.

As part of the branding redesign, the Concordia Athletics website at https://athletics.concordia.edu was also redesigned.
