Round Rock Express President Dave Fendrick announced Thursday he will retire from the position and his 39 year career in baseball. His replacement, Jay Miller, held the position previously before taking a job as Texas Rangers senior vice president.

Fendrick has been with the Round Rock Express since 1999. He started as assistant general manager for sales and marketing. He became the vice president and general manager prior to the 2005 season then moved to his current position in 2010.

Miller joined the organization as its first general manager in 1999. He became the president of the franchise in 2004 until he left in 2010 to pursue his role with the Texas Rangers, which owns the Express.

Jill Cacic, Round Rock Express director of communications, said the decision to bring back a former president into the role was to have "familiar leadership."

"With the opportunity to bring Jay back on board it was an opportunity we wanted to pursue," Cacic said.
