The Round Rock City Council unanimously appointed Laurie Hadley as interim city manager Thursday. Current City Manager Steve Norwood announced his resignation effective Sept. 30.

"The City Council is really pleased with the existing executive staff and leadership team, so this move just makes a lot of sense," Mayor Alan McGraw said in a statement.

Hadley has been assistant city manager since May 2011. She oversees the transportation, utilities and environmental services, planning and development services, and library departments, among others.

"We have a great team in place here, from top to bottom, and I am honored to be able to lead them on an interim basis until the City Council makes its decision on a permanent replacement for Steve," Hadley said.

Hadley came to her current position after working as the city manager in Prescott, Arizona. She took over that position from Norwood also before leaving the city for Round Rock as well.
