Business group hosts forum for City Council District 8 hopefuls

In November, Oak Hill residents can help elect a City Council member to represent Southwest Austin.

The Oak Hill Business and Professional Association hosted the five candidates who are running for the District 8 seat (see the Candidate Guide on Page 15) during its Aug. 7 luncheon.

Becky Bray, Eliza May, Darrell Pierce, Ed Scruggs and Ellen Troxclair weighed in on improvements to the Hwy. 290 corridor, SH 45 SW, light rail, business redevelopment, affordability and property taxes during the hourlong discussion.

Several candidates said the Southwest Austin area has been underrepresented at City Hall and pledged to be accessible to residents.

The forum was one of several in the Southwest Austin area in the coming weeks.
