The Hutto Area Chamber of Commerce has picked John Darby to be its new president. Darby will begin work at the chamber Aug. 18, according to a news release.

Darby said he was most recently the CEO of the Texas Chiropractic Association, and he has worked in chambers of commerce for the past 16 years.

Darby is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management. He also earned the certified association executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives, he said.

"I am thrilled to join the Hutto Area Chamber of Commerce at a time when the city and region are poised for explosive growth," Darby said in a statement. "The city leadership, strong education system and professional training resources here locally and an aggressive economic development corporation are all assets that will continue to attract business to Hutto."

The chamber has been searching for a new leader since former president Tom Britton resigned in late April.

The Hutto chamber helps retain and support local businesses. It has 320 members representing 2,837 employees.
