The Coppell ISD board on July 23 chose Mike Waldrip, Frisco ISD deputy superintendent of administrative operations, as the sole finalist for the CISD superintendent position.
The board will vote on Waldrip's appointment in August after a 21-day waiting period, in accordance with Texas law.
"I am excited about coming to a district that has an incredible reputation for leading the way in public education," Waldrip said in a news release.
If chosen, Waldrip will replace current CISD Superintendent Jeff Turner, who accepted the executive director position with the Texas Association of Suburban/Mid-Urban Schools this spring.
Given the time of the year, FISD will not look to immediately fill Waldrip's position, FISD spokeswoman Shana Wortham said.
Waldrip has been with FISD since 2002, starting as a middle school principal. He received his doctoral degree in education in 2008 while he was a high school principal.
