Austin Parks Foundation announced its grant recipients July 17, with three Central Austin parks set to benefit.

Friends of Brentwood Park will overhaul the 50-year-old Brentwood Park. The neighborhood group will begin using $19,950 to restore and upgrade the park's facilities. Projects include updating the fence surrounding the park and adding benches and water fountains, according to the news release.

The group hopes to have the park completed by in time for the upcoming school year.

Boggy Creek and Rosewood parks will receive 11 enclosed city-approved trash cans to replace the existing receptacles that were rusting and had no lids, according to a news release. Friends of Boggy Creek and Rosewood Glen Oaks Neighborhood Association will receive the $5,006.40 grant.

Two previous recipients of Austin Parks Foundation grants have now completed their projects.

One of which was the Elisabet Ney Museum and Friends of Shipe Park. The two groups came together to create an "interpretive nature trail" from Shipe Park to the museum's native prairie restoration area, according to the news release. The original grant was $15,555.

The foundation reviews applications for grants twice a year. The next deadline is September 30. Those interested in applying must become a park adopter and fill out the application that can be obtained by contacting [email protected].
