The search is over for a new board trustee at Barbara Gordon Montessori School in Colleyville, in which staff appointed Ken Cannon on June 17. Cannon will serve on the building and grounds committee, according to a news release from the school.

The new trustee comes to BGMS after serving in an executive role with Xerox Corporation for more than three decades, most recently as the director of employee and industrial relations for North American operations.

"BGMS is a growing organization that serves over 200 children and their parents, and our responsibility as board members is to provide the framework and support our head of schools needs to facilitate that service," Board President Marietta Klein said. "Ken's extensive background in management and human resources make him a great addition to the team."

Since retiring from Xerox Corporation, Cannon has provided labor relations consulting services for companies such as Siemens, Sally Beauty Holding and McDonalds, according to the release.

The BGMS Board of Trustees is made up of 6 to 11 elected members who work on an array of four committees that support the school in specific areas: buildings and grounds, communications, strategic planning or capital funding and development.

"BGMS is always open to adding qualified members of the community to its board, especially those who can bring a unique perspective and skill set to the existing board," Klein said.

The Barbara Gordon Montessori School, located at 1513 Hall Johnson Rd., is a nonprofit organization established in 1971 and is a recognized Montessori school by Association Montessori International. The school serves children ages 14 months–14 but also provides a program for parents and their infants who are age 2 months and older.
