My Emergency Room 24/7, a new physician-owned emergency care center in San Marcos, will open at the end of June, said Casandra Harrington, the facility's business administrator.
"Our vision is to provide emergency care to the growing community in a setting that is both efficient and expedient but above all is compassionate and caring. We desire to be the community's choice in emergency health care," Harrington said.
The center will accept private insurance and will offer cash discounts to patients with Medicare, Medicaid or no insurance.
Co-owner Ryan Cradeur said the center will provide care for everything from colds and fevers to strokes and heart attacks.
"Anything that walks through the door, we can handle whatever that is," he said.
Cradeur said the advantage of freestanding emergency centers such as My Emergency Room 24/7 is that patient wait time is usually lower than at a hospital emergency room. Cradeur said he expects patients will be able to see a doctor within 10–20 minutes of arrival and could be out the door in one hour, depending on their health concern.
"I think the trend [of freestanding emergency clinics] is starting to emerge because standard hospital ERs are starting to get overwhelmed and patient care has been dropping. What we can provide is quick access to a physician."
The business will have an emergency lab and will be staffed with board-certified emergency room physicians, registered nurses and radiology and urology technicians, Harrington said.
The clinic will be located at 2810 S. I-35, San Marcos.
