St. Stephen's Episcopal School was recognized by the Austin chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the outstanding design and construction of its new Buddy Temple '60 Dining Hall, Booth Student Center, Wycliff-Freeman Dormitory and ten new faculty residences—all of which were dedicated in September, said Director of Communications Anne Marie Becka.
The AIA-Austin awards were presented May 1 to the architects—Arthur Andersson and Chris Wise of Andersson-Wise Architects—for the new facilities.
"While we like to stress the functionality of these new buildings and ways in which they seem to fit seamlessly into our campus landscape, it's nice to have the process by which they were created and their design and form recognized as well," Head of School Bob Kirkpatrick said in a news release.
Construction of the Booth Student Center and Temple Dining Hall was funded by the school's "Frame the Future" capital campaign.
