The owner of Star Co. Coffeehouse and Cafe, which closed abruptly in late April, said his business will soon reopen at a new location in downtown Round Rock.

Star Co. owner Shawn Faulk said his business will move into vacant space in the building at 201 E. Main St., directly across the street from The Brass Tap bar and next to the public plaza by Round Rock City Hall.

The new location will open by Aug. 1, Faulk said.

"It's like we just took a vacation and we're back," Faulk said. "We're trying to get it up and running like it was before."

In addition to standard coffee shop fair, the new location will offer Amy's Ice Cream and a selection of locally produced souvenirs. Some menu items will also be changed.

Faulk said the new location will be convenient to the city's summer events and concerts that take place at the plaza.

Star Co. will honor any gift cards sold at the old location, Faulk said.

Faulk said the relocation made good financial sense.

"We ended up deciding to sell the [old] building," he said. "The building values were good downtown. It was more profitable to sell the building and relocate."
