With all the votes tallied, unofficial results show Tom Eustace and Christie Exner-Crawford will head to a runoff in the race for Jersey Village City Council Position 5. Eustace ended up one vote short of winning the race for Position 5 on Jersey Village City Council with 314 votes, or 50 percent of the vote. Exner-Crawford finished with 169 votes.

Joyce Berube finished in third with 145 votes. A total of 628 people voted in the election. According to city charter, Council will look into calling a runoff election between Eustace and Exner-Crawford at its May 19 meeting after votes have been canvassed.

Eustace, 35-year resident of Jersey Village, is a member of the city's planning and zoning commission and has served as its chairman in the past. As a commissioner, he played a role in golf course re-zoning, developments such as Prologis and Lakes of Jersey Village, code and ordinance revisions and ETJ planning.

Exner-Crawford said she wanted to run as a way of giving back to the community. Among topics she said she considers important are finding ways to revitalize the city while keeping it safe through supporting strong public safety. She has helped with numerous community events, including Holiday in the Park, Spring Fling, Founder's Day Parade and 4th of July events.

The seat was previously held by Jill Klein, who is stepping down because of term limits. Klein also served as the city's liaison for the recreation and events committee.

Incumbents Justin Ray and Sheri Sheppard were unchallenged for their respective seats at Positions 1 and 4. Greg Holden, who was appointed by council to fill the vacated Position 2 in January, is also running unopposed in a special election. Holden replaced Sandra Joachim, who stepped down from council in November.

The mayor and all City Council members in Jersey Village serve two-year terms and are limited to four terms total. Mayor Rod Erskine, Councilman Harry Beckwith III and Holden will be up for election in May 2015.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
