Round Rock ISD hosts a ceremony April 26 to dedicate the performing arts center in memory of Raymond E. Hartfield, a former trustee who advocated for the construction of the venue.

Hartfield served on the district's board of trustees from 1994–2008 and was board president for three years. He was named Citizen of the Year by the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce in 2010 and served on multiple boards, including YMCA of Greater Williamson County, St. David's Medical Center Round Rock and the Texas State University Advisory Board, according to RRISD. Hartfield died in June 2012 and in September 2013, the board approved the renaming of the arts venue to the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center.

"We're honored to rename our performing arts center in memory of Raymond," board president Catherine Hanna said in a news release. "He dedicated much of his career to the field of education and the arts. We are so grateful for his years of service as part of the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees and the community."

The venue is located at 5800 McNeil Drive and the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Hanna and superintendent Steve Flores will speak at the event, as well as Raymond's son Phillip and former RRISD superintendent Jess Chvez.
