The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce kicks off its 2014 Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair at 6:30 p.m. March 27 with its Brewmaster's Table. The event is at Town Square's Jupiter Pizza and Waffle Co. and features a five-course dinner paired with six hand-picked beers.
The dinner is expected to allow visitors to sample craft beers and learn more about the growing industry in preparation of the expanded craft beer portion of the Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair, event director Krystal Peay said.
"We were established 11 years ago as a wine festival, but an important part of this industry is craft beer," she said. "We have had craft beer at the event before, but this year we are launching a more significant craft beer involvement."
Anheuser-Busch brewmaster George Reisch—a fifth generation brewmaster—plans to speak to dinner guests about the brewing process and how specific ingredients create distinctive beers. The dinner is expected to feature a selection of Belgian ales as well as the limited-release Bourbon County Stout and the new 312 Pale Ale from Goose Island Brewery.
Tickets are $65 and limited to the first 50 guests. A limited number of tickets are also available for a private meet-and-greet with Reisch before the dinner for $85.

Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair
The Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair is April 23–27. The event will feature live music and refreshments at several events around town including the Sip & Stroll at the former Imperial refinery, which is expected to offer a wide selection of beers from 25 breweries around town. Each brewer—including Fort Bend Brewing Company—is expected to provide four-six beers each.
"We are creating a beer garden for this portion of the event where we will have our live music and barbecue in addition to our craft beers," Peay said.
The event holds its "Grand Tasting" Friday, April 25 where representatives from Karbach, Saint Arnold's, Goose Island and The Belgian Trio will be pouring their brews and educating visitors on the different tastes and brands.
