According to unofficial March 4 voting results, Travis County Precinct 4 Commissioner Margaret Gomez defeated challenger Darla Wegner with 72.83 percent of the vote.
Gomez, elected in 1994 as the first Mexican-American woman to serve on the Commissioners Court, earned another four-year term in county office by defeating Wegner, a Del Valle ISD school board member.
The two Democratic challengers have no Republican opponent, meaning the win clinches re-election for Gomez. Precinct 4 covers the southeast portion of Travis County.
Voting results produced on election night will not include the ballots cast between 7–9 p.m. March 4, according to Travis County election officials. Polling locations opened late because of inclement weather and then remained open an additional two hours.
All results are unofficial until votes are canvassed March 13.
