Sugar Land Sugar Land City Council approved a $1.1 million contract with Metro City Construction for drainage improvements in the Sugar Mill subdivision. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2014 on two storm water sewers along Rolling Mill and Hillary Circle to deliver water to Cleveland Lake. The project is expected to take about six months, city officials said.
"These projects are not only important to our residents' quality of life, but they ensure the safety of our residents during extreme rain events," City Engineer Chris Steubing said. "Drainage is an important city priority, and this project is an example of a need identified by our residents."
The project builds on the city's drainage work completed in 2011 and is expected to further reduce flood risks in and around the community.
