Austin ISD has cancelled a late start day scheduled for high schools Feb. 27 to make up lost class time as a result of recent inclement weather.

Buses will run on their normal schedule, and AISD will have a full instructional day, according to a district news release.

The school district had cancelled classes in late January and mid-February as a result of icy road conditions. The city had advised residents to avoid driving until temperatures rose above freezing.

AISD also used Feb. 17 as a make-up day.

In Texas, school districts and charters have to build two "makeup days" for school closures into their adopted school calendar, according to the Texas Education Agency. If dates for the designated makeup days have already passed, schools must make up at least two of the scheduled instructional days lost.
