The public is invited to participate in a Project Connect Central Corridor workshop Feb. 8 that will allow them to provide feedback on potential rail routes and transit service in the Central Corridor.

The workshop will be from 9:30 a.m.–noon at Austin Community College's Highland campus, 6001 Airport Blvd.

The Central Corridor—which is bounded by Koenig Lane, Springdale Road, Oltorf Street and MoPac—is the next study area for high-capacity transit in the Project Connect regional transit plan.

The planning team is looking at what kind of transit, such as urban or light rail, could serve the corridor and which routes it would take between Highland Mall and East Riverside Drive. The team is providing information to the Central Corridor Advisory Group, which is a group of stakeholders and other interested parties who are helping Mayor Lee Leffingwell choose a route for high-capacity transit.

Attendees will be able to review information and provide feedback on service, transit type and routes in the study area. Preliminary routes are available here.

Refreshments, music and activities for children will be provide. More information is available at www.projectconnect.com.
