The concept of food trucks may be well known in Houston and around Texas, but one business owner in Cypress is getting the wheels turning with a relatively new trend—a mobile boutique.

Outside of Suburban Girl Gifts and Stuff, passersby will notice a bus that owner Melissa Pontiff has painted turquoise and branded with the store's logo. The mobile boutique serves as an extension of Pontiff's retail business, where customers can find women's clothing, accessories and jewelry.

"Being in retail and having a storefront is very hard, so you always have to try and find new and different ways to excite customers with something different," Pontiff said.

The mobile boutique is available for those wanting to host private parties or fundraisers, and Pontiff said she also has interest from Bunco groups, a book club and Junior League organizations. Customers who want to have a private party on the bus—which also features a dressing room—have the option to personalize the items for sale that day.

"We're also trying to go to different festivals around Texas within 100 miles," Pontiff said. "We look for outdoor markets so we can park the bus and people can come inside."

Pontiff is taking appointments for private parties, which can be made by contacting the store at 281-758-3636.

"I hope that people look at this and it inspires them to start something of their own," she said. "We're always looking to step outside the box and bring the customer something new."
