Big decisions made in 2013
Astrodome bond election
- Commissioners gave voters the opportunity to determine the future of the Astrodome with a bond election in November, which did not pass. The fate of the building now sits with commissioners court.
Game room regulations
- Regulations for game rooms passed in December. The rules will make it easier for law enforcement to find and prosecute violators.
Top issues for 2014
Hwy. 290 and 249 construction
- Work on both major arteries is expected to continue in 2014. Hwy. 249 from Spring Cypress Road to the Montgomery County line is being turned into a toll road, while work continues to widen Hwy. 290 from Loop 610 to the Grand Parkway with joint funding from Harris County and the Texas Department of Transportation.
