Since opening in November, 3Kingz Barbershop's customer base has grown 15 percent, owners said.

Co-owners Jacob Ferguson and Johnathan Cardenas said they have plenty of space for 3Kingz—named after the Biblical allusion—to expand in the future. The Leander business aims to serve families, Ferguson said.

"We're big on family here," he said. "That's pretty much the way we've been running it."

Ferguson, an independent oil and gas contractor, met Cardeas two years ago at a shop where Cardeas worked. Cardeas said he usually doesn't befriend clients, but somehow meeting Ferguson was different.

"We both had the same idea," Cardeas said. "I wasn't happy where I was, and always wanted to own my own shop, too."

Ferguson provides business experience, and Cardeas offers cutting and styling. After building the shop's interior from scratch, they opened 3 Kingz on Nov. 9 on West Old FM 2243.

The client base is growing, Ferguson said, and often customers stop in for haircuts before the weekend.

"Everybody comes in here, from older gentlemen to young kids," he said. "In the last month and a half, I've probably seen at least 40 or 50 new faces in here."

But not everyone stops by for haircuts, Ferguson said.

"People come here to find out what's going on," he said. "And that's kind of the way I want it."
