December is full of celebrations and humble reminders of just how sweet life is.

I have been with Community Impact Newspaper for a year now and enjoyed a little of both.

Most of my career has been in the newspaper industry and I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about print. I found out very quickly that was not the case. I had a lot to learn and some very hard work ahead of me.

I, along with the entire staff for the Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake and Westlake market, have worked very hard in 2013 to bring our readers the best possible local news and information, and I think we have done a pretty good job of that.

I hear from readers all the time at various chamber functions and city events how much they love receiving their paper each month in the mail. They typically say they read it cover-to-cover. I never get tired of hearing that and I have learned to never take it for granted.

You may or may not know we are a free publication solely supported by our local advertisers. I have had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful clients in 2013 and I thank you for your continued partnership with Community Impact Newspaper.

Your support allows us the opportunity to stand behind our belief that everyone deserves to read about what is going on in his or her community for no charge.

I wish each of you very happy holidays and I look forward to all that is in store for 2014.
