The city of San Marcos will host a meet-and-greet with five finalists for the city manager position on Dec. 9 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.
The city announced five finalists for the city manager position currently held by Jim Nuse. Nuse plans to retire from the post Jan. 2 after holding the position for about three years.
The candidates include:
- Karen Daly, current assistant city manager of the city of Sugar Land, Tx.
- James Earp, current assistant city manager of the city of Kyle, Tx.
- Charles Ewings, current assistant city manager of the city of Longview, Tx.
- Tansy Hayward, current assistant city manager and neighborhood and community services director for the city of Tacoma, Wash.
- Jared Miller, current assistant city manager of the city of North Richland Hills, Tx.
The city hosted a meet-and-greet between the candidates and city residents on Dec. 9 at Embassy Suites. The candidates will be interviewed by City Council on Dec. 10 and a decision is expected in mid December. Director of Communications Melissa Millecam said City Council could announce their decision after the interviews or wait until a later date.
"It really depends on what [City Council] decides," Millecam said.
Director of Communications Melissa Millecam said the original pool of candidates consisted of 54 candidates, but that pool has been reduced over the course of the search.
The search process included stakeholder and individual meetings as well as a community survey to determine search criteria for the hiring process.
