This month we are celebrating our 100th issue of the Round Rock/Pflugerville/Hutto Community Impact Newspaper—our first and now flagship edition. One hundred times, the hardest-working staff in the local news industry has come together to create a paper that many said wouldn't last past the first issue. Community Impact Newspaper isn't just any newspaper, but one that promises each month to bring local and useful news to your mailbox for free, even as many of you have told us you would gladly pay for it.

You probably hear that all the innovation in news is happening online. One hundred issues of this newspaper tells us otherwise, as does the growth of our little company from three employees in our home's game room to nearly 100 employees throughout this state.

As much as we would like to say we live in the Information Age, the truth is we still need more information than ever about our cities and neighborhoods. Our talented staff has taken on this responsibility with enthusiasm and passion and continues to create a newspaper that has received serious state and national attention, including more than 60 National Newspaper Association Awards. With 15 editions throughout Texas and more than 1 million in mailed distribution, each edition's quality and usefulness amazes me.

Much has happened during these 100 issues. We have met and worked with some incredible people. We are always amazed when we hear from our readers about how much you love the newspaper. My wife, Jennifer, and I don't take your loyalty lightly—nor do we fail to be thankful for all the advertisers who have helped make each issue happen.

Although we can't control what everyone else in our industry does, you can be sure our commitment to a first-class local newspaper won't be swayed by technology trends. And if everyone else in the news business focuses their future on the Web, our newspaper will still be welcome in homes and local businesses throughout the state for years to come—something we feel is worth celebrating.
