Pflugerville City Council selected Wayne Cooper to be the city's next mayor pro tem on Nov. 12.
Cooper was nominated by former mayor pro tem Victor Gonzales, and was voted to the position unanimously by the council.
Cooper was first elected to city council in 2007 and is currently serving his third term after being reelected earlier this year. He previously served on the planning and zoning commission.
"Thank you," Cooper told the council after the vote. "I appreciate it."
