People interested in moving to the Tomball area will soon have another option with the opening of the latest multi-family development later this year.

Trammell Crow Residential broke ground on Alexan Creekside in February and expects to open some units in November.

For developers, the location of the property—at the southwest corner of Kuykendahl and Hufsmith Roads—was a key factor in the decision to build in an area with ongoing business growth.

"The property location is close to The Woodlands, near the new HEB, and Town Center, which was extremely attractive to us," said Scot Davis, senior managing director for Trammell Crow. "Also, we'll be near the new ExxonMobil campus which is expected to bring 10,000 employees and generate even more jobs. There is going to be a lot of strong demand in the area."

Alexan Creekside is expected to include 380 units with one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Some amenities for each unit include stainless steel appliances, oversized garden tubs and full sized washers and dryers. In addition the site will include a clubhouse and fenced dog park.

Although construction just began, Davis said people have already shown interest in moving to the property and expects more development in the future.

"There is a lot of growth around The Woodlands area and it's moving south," Davis said. "We are going to see a lot of new multi-family and single family development following that direction, along with retail and other businesses. We are well-positioned [in Tomball]."

Davis said Trammell Crow hopes to move along with the area growth with plans already underway to build a second property on a tract of land east of the current one.

Construction of all units is expected to be complete by next summer, Davis said. People can begin pre-leasing units within the next two months.
