Alamo Drafthouse announced it will open July 22 in the Lakeline Market shopping center.

The theater, located at 14028 N. US 183, Bldg. F, by Lakeline Boulevard, will be the company's largest and have 10 screens and a bar with a large selection of beer on tap. It will replace the nearby Lake Creek location at 13729 Research Blvd., which will close after screenings July 21.

Alamo Drafthouse CEO and founder Tim League said it was time replace the Lake Creek theater.

"We were looking for a more modern facility and more capacity," he said. "We've increased the seat count and the number of screens and also introduced stadium seating and better presentation and design. We renovated the existing Lake Creek cinema, but it was a theater originally built in the '90s and was even on our first day of operation a little out of date. It was either time for a massive remodel or a brand new building."

League said that with each new theater, he tries to find ways to improve.

"This [Lakeline] theater has a kitchen upstairs to eliminate the trays of food and drink from the public hallways and lobby," he said. "It should make the food and drink delivery even more stealthy."

In honor of the new Lakeline theater's ape-themed lobby, Alamo will have a screening of the 1968 sci-fi film, "Planet of the Apes," on July 26 and will invite moviegoers to don gorilla or ape suits, masks and accessories.
