Construction has started on 40 new T-hangars at Houston Executive Airport, and when completed in August, will bring the airport's lease capacity to more than 170,000 square feet.
" [Our hangar space] is full and we need to add more space for us to continue to grow and meet the area's general aviation demand," said airport Executive Director Andy Perry.
The project follows recently opened Henriksen Jet Center, a 22,500-square-foot terminal building with the world's largest fixed-base operator arrival canopy. The center opened in June and offers 24-hour aircraft fueling, ground-handling operations, rental and crew cars and catering services. The terminal also features a passenger lobby, conference room, crew lounge, weather friefing room, snack area, corporate offices and additional office space for future businesses.
" Business in Houston and across the state of Texas is strong and continues to draw significant new business to our city," Airport owner Ron Henriksen said. "Houston Executive's growth is directly linked to our local and state's strong economic performance, and we are eager partners in helping to draw and retain new opportunities for our community."
Once the new hangars are complete, Perry said, the airport maintains about 1,000 additional undeveloped acres for future expansion. Houston Executive Airport is located at 1900 Cardiff Road, Brookshire. www.houstonexecutiveairport.com
