The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce and its economic development partnership announced June 27 the receipt of three-star accreditation status by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

Round Rock is one of 217 chambers to receive the status, which gives national recognition to a chamber's programs, governing, finances, communications, technology and operations, according to a city of Round Rock news release.

"Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and community and advance the principles of free enterprise," said Raymond Towle, executive director of Political Affairs and Federation Relations at the U.S. Chamber, in the release.

The Round Rock chamber is now among the 3 percent of chambers throughout the nation to receive the accreditation. Currently, the chamber has 840 members, with an additional 95 members through its economic development partnership with the city.

"I am honored to be leading this dynamic organization," said Doug Kurkul, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, in the release. "The dedicated collaboration of the staff team, board of directors and volunteers has made this one of the nation's leading chambers."
