As of June 13, residents in Hutto have a new way to communicate with their utility providers.
The Utility Billing Division of the city of Hutto is transitioning to use a new Interactive Voice Response System, or IRVS, which will enable customers to have access to their accounts over the phone.
"It is used to give account information for balances, payment info and to take payment," said Utility Billing Supervisor Monica Burke. "The system is not replacing anything, it is just adding we still have customer representatives."
The standard options to make a payment online and speak to a representative about account balances are still available. However, the new IVRS offers an efficient way to receive up to date information and quickly make payments in real time.
The IVRS also offers a new outbound calling feature. Reminder calls will be made to customers before payment is due. Calls will also be made to customers who are late on payments before utilities are shut off.
"It would help the system to be successful if we had updated phone numbers," Burke emphasized.
To use the system, call the Utility Billing Division number at 512-759-4055 and choose your preferred option from the menu. An account number is required to use the system. To update your contact information, call 512-759-4055 and dial "0" to speak to a representative.
