The Williamson County Election Commission met May 31 to discuss a hiring strategy to fill the election administrator job that will be vacant beginning June 10.

Rick Barron, the county's election administrator for the past six years, handed in his resignation May 15. The commission accepted the resignation and appointed Kay Eastes to fill the spot temporarily when it met May 24.

An ad for the election administrator job will be posted on the Williamson County; Texas Association of Counties; National Association of Election Officers; and National Association of County Recorders, Election Officers and Clerks websites.

Three resumes have already been submitted for the position, Peggy Vasquez, executive assistant to County Judge Dan Gattis, told the commission, but each applicant will have to apply online.

The commission agreed to meet again at 9:30 a.m. June 14 in the County Judge's Conference room in the Williamson County Courthouse to review any applications received and discuss possible further action.
