According to unofficial results from Hays County, Chad Benninghoff and Joe Bacon are headed to a runoff election for the District 3 seat on Kyle City Council because neither candidate received a majority of the vote.
Benninghoff received 45.89 percent of the vote to Bacon's 42.21. Bill Sinor ended the night with 11.90 percent. Because neither of the top two candidates achieved a majority of the vote, a runoff election will be held.
A date for the runoff election has not been set.

According to early voting results, Chad Benninghoff leads Joe Bacon and Bill Sinor for the District 3 seat on Kyle City Council.
Benninghoff earned 47 percent of the early vote to Bacon's 42 percent and Sinor's 11 percent. Diane Hervol, mayor pro tem, was running unopposed in the May 11 election.
The at-large seat opened when current District 3 Councilman Bradley Pickett announced in February he would not seek re-election.
Bacon has previously served on the Kyle Mobility Committee. He said he is looking forward to seeing the final results.
"I feel pretty good about the campaign and the effort put forth," Bacon said. "Right now we're just relaxing."
