The first Volente Olive Fest will take place 2:30–8 p.m. April 20 at the Shore Club Volente Beach, 16107 FM 2769, Leander.

Central Texas oil-maker and event co-host Salud de Paloma, which launched in fall 2012, will offer its products, and the event will include other vendors selling desserts, Mexican and Japanese food, tea, art and more.

Salud de Paloma plans to donate 10 cents from each bottle of olive oil sold to the Business and Community Lenders of Texas, a nonprofit that specializes in loans for small businesses owned by minorities, women and veterans, BCL Junior Project Specialist Manuel Morales said.

"We are going to be selling products, and the Volente Shore Club, they are going to prepare some food and other tasting sample items," he said. "Also we are going to be showing a film about the olive oil tradition called the 'El Camino Olive Oil Trail.'"

Admission to the Volente Olive Fest is free, and the Volente Beach Waterpark is offering discounted admission rates during the event.

Bands expected to perform include The River Has Many Voices, Meggan + Bethany and Hello Caller. The festival also features wine and beer selections, an open cooking contest and children's entertainment.
